Acting Prime Minister Manasseh Maelanga will head a strong Government delegation to attend the 47TH Pacific Islands Forum Meeting in Ponphei, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) on Saturday.

At the Ponphei PIF Meeting from 7th to 11th Srptember, Hon Maelanga will present Solomon Island’s position on the Framework for Pacific regionalism under the new framework endorsed by the PIF Leader in 2015 on the core issues of Fisheries, ICT, Cervical Cancer, West Papua and Climate Change.

The delegation includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon Milner Tozaka, Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon Andrew Manepora, SI High Commissioner to Fiji His Excellency Patteson Oti, Permanent  Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Joseph Mahanua, Secretary to MSG Chair, Mr Rence Sore, Special Secretary to RAMSI, Mr John Wasi, Strategic Advisor to West Papua, Mr Feiloakitau Tevi, Deputy Secretary to Cabinet Ms Karen Galokale and other senior Government officers from the Prime Minister Office, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade.

During his absence, Minister of Finance and Treasury, Hon Snyder Rini will be the Acting Prime Minister.

The Government delegation will return to Solomon Islands on 13 September.
