DPM Maelanga meets Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo

Deputy Prime Minister Manasseh Maelanga returned home on Friday after representing Solomon Islands at the state funeral accorded to former Japanese Prime Minister late Shinzo Abe on Tuesday (27 September) in Tokyo, Japan.

Her Excellency Busadee Santipitaks, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, presented her Letter of Credence to the Governor General Sir David Vunagi at the Government House today. This event signifies another step forward in the bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and Solomon Islands in this post pandemic era.

Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Maelanga has received interest from Japan’s Parliamentary Friendship Association to establish ties with Solomon Islands.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade is currently conducting a 2 days Pre- departure Briefing for 66 Workers who will be travelling to Australia towards the end of September and early October 2022 under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme. The 2 days briefing is on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd September 2022. The Labour Mobility Unit (LMU) in the Ministry is organising the briefing.
