Solomon Islands has been granted three years extension by the United Nations to prepare for LDC graduation. This was made possible through a Resolution which was adopted by the General Assembly in New York on Friday (25th August 2023).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Solomon Islands presented its compliments to the Embassy of France in Vanuatu and has the honor to inform the latter with great sadness of the sudden passing of the late Mr Robert Bochman, Honorary Consul of France to Solomon Islands at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara on Sunday, 13th of August 2023.

Complementing efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External to enhance knowledge and capacity of its next generation of diplomats, timely assistance had been received, with the presentation of a set of books on the Practice of Diplomacy by the British High Commission to Solomon Islands.

The Supervising Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Rexon Ramofafia has used his meeting with the non-resident United Arab Emirates Ambassador to the Solomon Islands to reiterate the Government’s commitment to establish it’s Diplomatic Mission in Abu Dhabi, UAE to enhance bilateral relations and further explore opportunities of cooperation in the gulf region.

SIHC-PoM, Port Moresby, (10th July, 2023)- The Solomon Islands High Commission in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, yesterday  joined the Solomon Islands Community in Port Moresby in celebrating the Country’s 45th Independence Anniversary.

 

Solomon Islands remains concerned with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report in endorsing Japan’s plan to release treated radioactive water from the 2011 Fukushima nuclear plant accident into the Pacific Ocean.
