On Thursday, 10 October 2024, His Excellency William Soaki, Solomon Islands High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, His Excellency William Soaki joined the Minister for Education and Human Resource Development, Hon. Tozen Leokana who was on an official visit to Papua New Guinea for the opening of the Waneagu Medical Centre in Port Moresby.

 

 

Solomon Islands express its deep concern on the attack on the Residence of the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Khartoum, Sudan. The implacable action violates the 1961 Vienna Convention on which privilege, immunities, respect and protection of diplomatic premises, buildings and diplomats must be observed.

Beijing, 27 September 2024 – On September 27th, Ambassador Barrett Salato met with Ms. Wei Xiaowei, Director General of International Cooperation of the National Energy Administration of China (NEA), who paid a courtesy visit to the Solomon Islands Embassy in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on Solomon Islands-China bilateral cooperation on renewable energy, the challenges, and solutions.

A reception was hosted in Beijing to commemorate the 5th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Solomon Islands and the Republic of China. The event was organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC).

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Peter Shanel Agovaka, led the Solomon Islands delegation at the opening of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, which commenced with the Summit of the Future on September 22.

HC Soaki meets Pope Francis in a closed meeting at APEC Haus.

 

 

 

The Solomon Islands High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, His Excellency William Soaki, had the honor of meeting His Holiness Pope Francis during the Pope's historic visit to Papua New Guinea. The meeting, held on Saturday, brought together High Commissioner Soaki and other Pacific Islands leaders for a private session with the Pope.
