Attending the dialogue were Hon. Samiu Vaipulu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Justice and Prisons of Tonga, Hon. Lynda Tabuya, Deputy Leader of the People’s Alliance and Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation of Fiji, Hon.

Bradley Tovosia, Deputy Leader of OUR Party and Minister for Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification of the Solomon Islands, Hon. Rainbo Paita, MP of PANGU Party and Minister for Finance and Implementation of Papua New Guinea, Ms. Tehani Brown, MP of Cook Islands Party and Associate Minister for Health of Cook Islands and Mr. Gracia Shadrack, First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Vanuatu. H.E. Mr. Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee (IDCPC), and other Chinese and Pacific Island Countries senior government and party officials were also present.

 Hon. Bradley Tovosia commended China for successfully hosting the 3rd PIC-China Political Leadership Dialogue, noting that this is the first face to face meeting after the pandemic.

Hon. Tovosia discussed on the theme “Build a Brighter Future through Common Development” and highlighted China’s civilization and initiatives that had brought them to great lengths.

 Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Solomon Islands and China in 2019, the delegation led by Hon. Tovosia is the first official government delegation to travel to China.

The delegation spent five days in Fujian Province for site and institution visits and will spend four days in Beijing.

 In Beijing, Hon. Tovosia paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of Solomon Islands. He discussed and highlighted the importance of China as an important development partner for the country.

 He is expected to meet Solomon Islands students studying in Beijing today (27 April 2023).

The delegation is expected to leave Beijing on 28 April 2023.

The 3rd Pacific Island Countries-China Political Leadership Dialogue was held in Beijing, China on 26 April 2023 under the themes “Deepen Mutual Understanding Through Exchange of Ideas” and “Build A Brighter Future Through Common Development.”
