The Government of Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Immigration Border Security on Monday 22 May 2023, to strengthen and enhance border security.

 A delegation led by the Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Hon. Nestor Giro is currently in Beijing to progress the Fisheries Cooperation with the People’s Republic of China. Solomon Islands and Japan signed an Exchange of Notes to pave the way for Japan to assist the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in their ongoing work to safely remove and dispose UXOs in the country. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Jeremiah Manele and the Ambassador of Japan, His Excellency, Miwa Toshiaki signed the Exchange of Notes on 17th May 2023 in Honiara.

Work on reaching a broader overarching Bilateral Border Agreement between Solomon Islands and Vanuatu has begun following a successful Senior Officials meeting between the two countries from 11th -12 May (2023) on Rah Island, Motalava in Vanuatu.
