SOLOMON Islands farewells the out-going ROC/Taiwan Ambassador to Solomon Islands HE Victor Te-Sun Yu during a farewell dinner hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon Milner Tozaka.
The ceremony which gathers various dignitaries and members of the diplomatic corps has been highlighted with warm wishes to HE Yu for his service in Solomon Islands.
During the Minister’s farewell speech, Hon Tozaka informed HE Yu of Solomon Islands Government’s appreciation for his leadership and wisdom in guiding Taiwan’s warm relations with Solomon Islands over the years.
“It is only fitting that we gather here tonight to farewell and to thank HE Yu before he embarks on his next assignment.”
During the farewell occasion, both dignitaries shared and valued the essence of forging relations some 33 years ago.
The value of this relationship Hon Tozaka added will not go unnoticed, with the current leadership and dedication of HE in Solomon Islands which has successfully coordinate many rural projects to the lives of rural people in this country.
In essence, apart from Taiwan’s rural aid, Solomon Islands appreciate the continuous technical assistance rendered by Taiwan in various sectors ranging from Health, Agriculture and Education.
Hon Tozaka further highlighted that “on education, we have seen recipients of the Taiwan ICDF Higher Education scholarship; which we are indeed confident that they will share much to the development of this country”.
Hon Tozaka added that the foundation laid by HE Yu and the work done thus far will be remembered in the years ahead.
In reply, HE Yu further stated that he is humbled to be hosted in such manner; by which he will surely miss working with Solomon Islands on the ground.
HE Yu has learnt a lot during his tenure of service in the country and is proud for the most recent development projects under his leadership; notably the Fakaloloma Sanitation project at Niuleni and Funafou in Malaita Province
HE Yu has appreciated the cordial and warm relationship between ROC/Taiwan and Solomon Islands and did inform that he is proud to share and value the relationship during his time as Ambassador of ROC/Taiwan to Solomon Islands.
The Ambassador is due to return to Taiwan on January 12, 2017 after completing his 3 years in Solomon Islands.
HE will be succeeded by Ambassador designated to Solomon Islands Mr Rodger Luo which is due to arrive on January 16, 2017.
