As of mid-September 2020, Solomon Islands citizens in Australia can now initiate their renewal of passports at the Consulate General Office in Brisbane. Immigration officials, Mr. Johnson Oge and Mr Richard Manuroho, flew in to Brisbane on the 24th August to set up Immigrations Mobile Enrolment Unit (MEU) in the Consulate.

On 14th August 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon Jeremiah Manele, presented Exequatur to Mr Durk Kee Kim formally recognising him as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea to Solomon Islands and Mr Hii Yii Ging, as the Honorary Consul of Malaysia to Solomon Islands.

On 26th June 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Honourable Jeremiah Manele, presented an Exequatur to Ms Keithie Saunders formally recognising her as the United States Honorary Consul to Solomon Islands for the next 18 months.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Jeremiah Manele signed the exchange of notes with Japan’s Representative, Chargé d'affaires, Junji Yamazaki on 17th June 2020  for the assistance towards economic and development project focusing on the health sector.

Solomon Islands Foreign Minister Jeremiah Manele expressed his disappointment on the deliberate distortion of his press statement issued yesterday by the leader of Opposition today.

Solomon Islands Foreign Minister, the Hon. Jeremiah Manele registered his disappointment on the statement issued by Malaita Province Premier, the Hon Daniel Suidani on Monday when the Premier made reference to the Republic of China as a state rather than a province of the People’s Republic of China.

Solomon Islands acknowledge China’s assistance towards its effort to combat COVID-19 in the country and humanitarian assistance for TC Harold. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. The signing of the Exchange of Letters for the 2023 Pacific Games Stadium Project was held on 15th April in Honiara, between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Jeremiah Manele and China’s Representative, Chargé d'affaires, Yao Ming.

High Commissioner Lady Joy Kere served as High Commissioner to New Zealand for the past 6 years since the establishment of the High Commission of Solomon Islands to New Zealand in 2014. 

Not only is High Commissioner Kere the first Solomon Islands High Commissioner to New Zealand, but she is also the first female Solomon Islands High Commissioner.
