The Solomon Islands High Commissioner to the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency William Soaki, presented his credentials to the Fiji President His Excellency Major General (retired) Jioji Konusi Konrote on Thursday 13th December 2018 at the Borron House, Suva.

Ambassador Gobbi and Sir Frank at Government House

The Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina, H.E. Hugo Javier Gobbi has presented his letters of credence to the Governor General Sir Frank Ofagioro Kabui at Government House on Thursday 4th October.

The ceremony has now formalized Ambassador Gobbi’s appointment as non-resident Ambassador Extra Ordinary with full powers to represent Argentina in Solomon Islands.

“This accreditation is an affirmation of our diplomatic relation established not long ago. It is the mark of friendship between us, two sovereign states,” Sir Frank said when accepting Ambassador Gobbi’s letter of credence.

Solomon Islands Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva and the World Trade Organisation has been commissioned on Friday 24 August. 

His Excellency Barrett Salato was commissioned by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade Hon Milner Tozaka at the MFAET office.

Honourable Tautai Agikimua Kaitu’u at the 71st WHA

The Minister for Health and Medical Services of Solomon Islands, Honourable Tautai Agikimua Kaitu’u, made a strong case in support of including a supplementary item entitled: “Inviting Taiwan to participate in the World Health Assembly as an observer” in the Agenda of the 71st Session of the World Health Assembly.

Minister Tozaka and Japan Foreign Minister Taro Kono

THE Government has signed a milestone agreement with the Japanese Government for the improvement of the Honiara International Airport Project today in Tokyo.

Minister of Foreign Affairs & External Trade Honorable Milner Tozaka and the Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono officially signed the agreement at the Japanese Foreign Affairs Office.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Honourable Milner Tozaka accompanied by the Deputy Secretary for Foreign Affairs & External Trade, (MFAET), William Soaki attended a High Level Dialogue on Climate Change and Biodiversity last week at the Pacific Community (SPC) Headquarter in Noumea.

Solomon Islands’ Ambassador to the United Nations and the United States of America, Mr. Robert Sisilo, has completed his cross-accreditations when he presented his Letter of Appointment to the Prime Minister of Canada, Mr. Justin Trudeau, on Monday this week. The Letter, signed by Prime Minister Sogavare, appoints Mr. Sisilo, based in New York, as Solomon Islands’ non-resident High Commissioner to Canada.

Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare, MP was welcomed with a 19th gun salute in front of the Australian Parliament yesterday in Canberra on Monday 14th August 2017.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade Honourable Milner Tozaka joined several Pacific Leaders and other Ministers in Noumea, New Caledonia last week from 27th to 28th July 2017 to attend the 10th Pacific Community Conference under the theme of “Innovative Partnership for Sustainable Development”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade reaffirms its commitment on the establishment of the Solomon Islands High Commission in London.

The Solomon Islands High Commission to the UK, which became operational on 3rd April 2017, is part of the Governments political commitment in enhancing bilateral and multilateral diplomatic commitments in the UK. Hence, the London Mission remains a priority mission for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade.
