The Solomon Islands Ambassador to the United States of America His Excellency Robert Sisilo, presented his credentials to the United States President His Excellency Donald Trump on Friday 21st July 2017 at the White House, in Washington DC.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Milner Tozaka acknowledges New Zealand’s assistance to Solomon Islands when meeting his counter-part, the Hon. Gerry Brownlee, Minister of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday 4th July in Wellington. It was the first time for both Ministers to meet since Minister Brownlee replaces former Foreign Minister, Murray McCully in May this year.

The visiting Taiwanese Foreign Minister Hon. Dr. David Lee has had a constructive bilateral talk with his Solomon Islands counterpart Hon. Milner Tozaka at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade Headquarters in Honiara on Tuesday this week.

Solomon Islands Permanent Representative to the United Nations, His Excellency Ambassador Robert Sisilo has been commissioned today as High Commissioner-designate to Canada.

Here, in a side event of the sixty-first session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) held at the New York-based United Nations, Mrs Ethel Sigimanu, Permanent Secretary for Women, Youth and Children Affairs, was referring to the issue of violence against women in Solomon Islands.  

The Government has formally announced Peter Kenilorea Junior as the new substantive Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade.

Prime Minister Hon Manasseh Sogavare has assured the new Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Roger Luo that the Solomon Islands-Taiwan relationship ‘can only grow stronger and stronger.’

The new Permanent Representative of the Solomon Islands to the United Nations, Robert Sisilo, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guterres today.

Solomon Islands was among the 16 members of the Pacific Islands Forum that did attend the 3rd Interim Pacific Island Leaders Meeting (IPALM) which was held in Tokyo on 17th January, 2017. The Solomon Islands delegation was headed by Hon. Milner Tozaka- Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade; accompanied by the Permanent Secretary (sg) for Foreign Affairs- Mr. Joseph Maáhanua and Assistant Secretary (sg) for Asia Branch- Mr. Joseph Atkin Tada

The Interim Pacific Island Leaders Meeting (IPALM) was a ministerial forum between members of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) and the government of Japan; seeking to discuss issues of common interests. IPALM was an avenue initiated purposely to review previous PALM meetings and prepare by way-forward for the next summit proceedings (PALM).

This year marks the 3rd IPALM Ministerial meeting that discusses the 2015 Pacific Island Leaders Meeting PALM commitments; hence its implementation; and the preparation towards the forth-coming PALM Leaders meeting which will be held in 2018 in Japan.
